About Private Lessons

Where will lessons be held?
-Lessons will be held primarily at Lake Park Swim Club (http://lakeparkpool.com/)  in North Raleigh.  It's my neighborhood pool and I have permission to conduct lessons there.  If you have your own private pool, and therefore permission, we can talk more specifically.
*I prefer to stay in North Raleigh, as I need to arrange child care for my 3 year old and baby.

How much do you charge?
-I charge $25 for 30 minutes of private instruction.  I will teach 1-2 children for the most individual attention.  If adding a second child, it is to everyone's interest that they be at a similar swimming ability, working toward the same goals.

When do you conduct classes?
(edited June 12, 2014)
Depending on the day, most weekday classes will be between 11-12pm and 4-5pm.

You can check my schedule on Google Calendar.  I have openings where it says "Lesson" and I have a lesson already scheduled where it says "Lesson-filled".  I'm happy to talk to you about other arrangements.  Sometimes I am limited by pool availability.  The link to the Google Calendar is here:

What is you experience teaching swimming lessons?
-I was a competitive swimmer from age 6-22, swimming from summer league to the University of Virginia swim team.  I began teaching lessons at the NOVA Aquatic Center in Richmond Virginia when I was 16 and continued until I was 22.  I taught lessons and coached at the Blacksburg Country Club in Blacksburg, Virginia from 2010-2011.  In the non-summer months, I taught third grade, having my Masters in elementary education (preK-6).  I am also currently adult and infant CPR certified.

What ages do you teach to swim?
-I teach individually starting around 3.  Much younger children need more consistency than I can offer them this summer.  The focus for children under 3.5 is comfort in the water with assistance.  I also teach older children and adults.

How can I contact you?
-Feel free to email me at misselaineswimnc@gmail.com, or use Facebook to send me a message.  You can call me at (540)383-4757, but I would prefer calls only in cases of last minute changes or emergencies (late to the pool, weather emergency).

What is the weather policy?
-The lifeguards at Lake Park Swim Club will make all decisions about inclement weather.  I'll contact you as soon as it seems the weather may impact our lessons.  If the forecast seems particularly stormy or rainy, we can postpone.

Why can't we meet at Pullen Park Pool or another public pool?
-It is written in their rules that outside teachers can't conduct lessons there.  I'd like to extend that to other private clubs in the area unless you have expressed permission to bring an outside instructor in.  Many pools have their own lessons instructors, and I do not want to push into their territory.

Do you have any discounts?
-I offer discounts for successful referrals.  Ask me about the details.
